Day 06
It is the last night that we get to spend in Taipei. I am already feeling the sadness that starts to fill me from within. *sob sob*
As planned, we headed to 剑谭again(for the 4th time I think) to take a bus to 阳明山. It was quite a long ride up the mountain and we had to stand since we were one of the last few passengers to board.
Once we were there, we took the shuttle bus up further into the mountain. We alighted at some place which offers a great view of the whole and Taipei city. We took many photos before deciding to go to some bookstore. We were walking and walking when we realized we had walked way too far from the bus stop and decided to trace back our path. In a spur of the moment, we decided to hitch hike.
We failed on the first attempt but our second one, succeeded! A van stopped and these 2 ladies decided to give us a ride. What happened next was way out of our imaginaries! One of the ladies offered to bring us to eat at some shop up at the mountain and without second thought, we grabbed the offer immediately!!
We had a healthy meal at the shop and had a great chat with the 2 ladies. They are called 徐阿姨 and刘阿姨. They look way much younger than their original ages. I think it has to do with the food that they eat. = p
We toured around for a while before they drove us to the 捷运 station to head for our next stop. Along the way, we saw many beautiful scenes from the top of the 阳明山. Perhaps next time I should visit the hot springs there too!
After a 15 min ride downhill, we finally reached the station. As the ladies told us, we decided to try go to 新殿 to visit the bridge and also to ride the “swan”. The ride there was brief and we took a nap along the way.
Upon arrival, we rushed to ride on the “swan” where we took even more photos. And not forgetting photos of the bridge too!!
Things happened so fast… We immediately rushed back to our hotel, bathed and took a cab to 西门町 to cut our hair. It cost NT$499, about SGD$25, to wash and cut my hair and also treatment. I think it was worth it. Well, at least for now. = )
Rain didn’t manage to dampen our mood as we proceeded to meet Lorraine's friend, Chia Cheh.
We went for Shabu Shabu before heading to his house for a short visit. Oh! Did I say his wife, Carol, is very friendly? She talked a lot and made us feel so welcomed. Their house is so big! It is like a pent house in Singapore! It is actually 2 houses with the separating wall removed to create extra space.
After a chat with Chia Cheh, I realized he is matured and truly a family man. I cannot believe that he used to be playful during his younger days. I guess marriage changes one’s views and priorities.
Today has been without question the best day of my stay in Taipei!
I can’t help feeling sad that we are leaving for Singapore tomorrow. = (
I would love to visit this beautiful country again… Guess I better start packing my stuff. Ciao!
