Today's "Today in Beijing" was interesting, especially the little speech Mark has made on the show.
He mentioned there has been some discussions in the online forum regarding the nationalities of our paddlers in the table-tennis. Seems like the limelight doesn't fall on the fact that they managed to advance into the women's team final but on the countries that they come from.
Mark's response to all the on-going buzz was nicely done. He said this has been happening in many countries whereby not just the homegrown players will be competing in international games and he cited many examples to substantiate. He further reiterated that it is important to understand if these players are playing for their new-found "home" countries whole-heartedly and from the emotions from our very own paddlers after winning Korea the day before, it was evident that they are indeed playing FOR our Nation. I couldn't agree more.
Hym... Why are we pointing fingers at our paddlers only after they have successfully advanced into the Finals and not at our other national players? We seem to be demean them then to honor their achievement.
Whatever it is, they have done our Nation proud!
